The SOAR Concept Developed by Anita D Russell

The Place to SOAR is a social enterprise that grew out of my personal life experiences. Quite simply, it is a social enterprise focused on cultivating life change and has become my calling statement. In 2013 I made a milestone decision and took a very bold step in life – retire early and walk away from a successful corporate career to pursue a new career as a social entrepreneur.

What I found is that it was virtually impossible to fit this BIG dream into my then current life. So, I took the necessary steps to change my life, considering some critical areas such as my passion for growth and development; my personal economy; family and relationships; my faith, trust and belief. In fact, the theme of my retirement party was “My Redesigned Life”.

Step Out And Redesign...And the Focus Is You!

Out of this decision and experience arose a concept referred to as SOAR, an acronym for “Step Out And Redesign" where the focus is YOU! The SOAR concept is based on the premise that we are each a unique treasure trove of gifts, talents, dreams and aspirations to be realized in the discovery of vision, purpose, and connection with others.

This unique God-given treasure trove is embedded in the blueprint for our lives and our purpose. The implication and the belief is that purpose is not picked but discovered.

Personal Accountability Responsibility (PAR)

However, as life progresses, as we grow and develop, we often deviate from the blueprint and go through seasons where it is necessary to tear down and redesign various aspects of our lives to get back on track. The redesign process requires individuals to have the courage and the boldness to look honestly and transparently at themselves with a sense of responsibility and accountability for the state and quality of their lives. It also means permitting themselves to soar as high as they desire in spite of their life circumstances or past. So, are you on par with your vision, purpose, and connections?

The 10 SOAR Values form the foundation of the SOAR concept: clearly defined, faith-based and growth-inspiring. Along with the values is a SOAR On-PAR Toolkit for daily, practical application with a goal of helping you become the person you aspire to be by examining the person that you are.
